Objective: The Manufacturing Supervisor position oversees manufacturing to produce products and directs activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. Responsible for hourly and daily supervision of assigned production areas. Must track monitor and report adherence to the schedule, immediately reports problems, issues, shortages, etc. that can or may prevent completion of the schedule.


Essential Functions:


  • Must be able to understand and implement programs for continuous improvement such as Kanban, 5S and Kiazen activities.

  • Must have knowledge of or the capacity to learn MRP/ERP/Scheduling processes.

  • Must be able organize and facilitate projects and meetings with peers and subordinates.

  • Must be able to perform all of the duties, responsibilities and functions of a Group Leader.

  • Detail oriented and quality focused, must communicate issues and problems to Production Management and Engineering promptly, completely along with the consequences of the issue, i.e. “packing has stopped”.

  • Monitors and verifies that Group Leaders and all operators are following the schedule, drawings and sample assemblies.

  • Must be visibly on the production floor during working hours.

  • Monitors and verifies that Group Leaders and all operators have the proper tools and fixtures to assemble and test their assigned assemblies.

  • Monitors tool, glove and safety equipment usage and issues replacements as required.

  • Monitors and enforces adherence to all company HR and Safety policies and procedures

  • Implements procedures and controls to validate and minimize tool, glove and safety equipment usage.

  • Participates in assignment of personnel to individual workstations, trains and monitors their performance.

  • Monitors individual operator work content and abilities in order to maintain a balanced flow of product on the assembly line. Assigns and re-assigns operators to take best advantage of the skills and abilities.

  • Trains, develops and evaluates staff. Including group leaders.

  • Makes recommendations on corrective and preventive action as necessary, on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.

  • Assist company officers and senior staff managers in the implementation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.

  • Assists management with the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.

  • Achieves optimum employee levels with the least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.

  • Conveys and recommends manufacturing policies and procedures that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.

  • Directs and monitors department Group Leaders to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.

  • Acts as liaison between department managers/subordinates, as well as executive management to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies.

  • Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and monitor rework data.

  • Directs and maintains production standards.

  • Direct and coordinates various processes essential to manufacturing procedures, e.g. training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement and security measures.

  • Working cooperatively with staff and departments in order to identify issues, communicate solutions promptly.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned and required.
